Did you know?
If your son/ daughter missed half a day a week over their 5 years at school (90% attendance) that would be the equivalent of missing 6 months of school. A whole day a week (80% attendance) would be the equivalent of missing a whole school year.
Current legislation
Schools can no longer agree holidays in term time. If you wish us to consider your child's absence from school for exceptional circumstances you are required to apply to the Headteacher for consideration.
Should parents absent their child without agreement, school could serve a penalty notice if 10 days absence is taken for a holiday that had been refused. This has been shortened to 5 days unauthorised.
The penalty is £60 per parent per child if paid within 21 days receipt, rising to £120 if paid after 21 days. Parents can be prosecuted if 28 days have expired and full payment has not been made. There is no right of appeal by parents against the penalty notice.
