Modern Foreign Languages

At St George’s, we teach French through the Kapow Primary program, reflecting our vision that every child is "wonderfully made, inspired to shape the world." Just as Psalm 139:14 reminds us that each individual is fearfully and wonderfully made, Kapow Primary helps us nurture the unique talents of our children, providing them with the tools to explore new languages and cultures.

Kapow’s French scheme of work not only instills a love for language learning but also encourages an awareness of other cultures, helping our pupils grow in their sense of identity and community. It supports them in reaching the national curriculum targets by the end of Key Stage 2, equipping them to make positive contributions to the world.

The scheme is structured around six key strands:

• Speaking and pronunciation

 • Listening

 • Reading and writing

 • Grammar

 • Intercultural understanding

 • Language detective skills
